Does anyone have any experiences with the new Hornaday CX bullets?
I have been enjoying the hammer projectiles in my 7saum and wondered how the CX compares.
Cheers

I love the Hammers, I doubt the CX are as aggressive, if they are anything like the old GMXs
The Hammers are way more aggressive than the Barnes TTSX, reflected in the price though

aren't they varment bullets exploding on impact what are you shooting
Im waiting to try the 120 cmx in my 6.5prc at somestage

The CX and the Hammers are quite different aren't they.
If the petals broke off the CX it would be a failure. If they didn't break off the Hammer, that would be a failure.
Of the monos Ive used the Hammers are head and shoulders ahead of Barnes. The best of the Barnes were the LR which seem a bit softer. Cant seem to get them anymore. I would expect the CX to be like the Barnes LR.
The Hammers Ive used have been (all Hammer Hunters):
223: 52 grn and 60 grn (60 grn at 3200 are lethal)
260: 124 grn At 2850 from an 18" these kill very well (load them for Craig).
6.5prc 124 grn Pretty good at 2950 fps.
270wsm 117 grn At 3450 these are absolutely devastating.
As said, they are expensive (cheap for Craig though )
Fun though.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

Take a look at the expansion tests of the CX on the Frontline Rejects channel on YT.
I contacted Hornady and asked them if they had changed the CX alloy composition at all, from the old GMX. They said no, the material is the same, the difference is in the tip and the hollow point behind it.
It’s a very interesting channel this, because the tests are all done in exactly the same manner, and you can really see some decent side-by-side comparisons of different bullets in the same cartridge.
The .308 Win shooting the 110gr CX caused major defragmentation, which was a big surprise.
Just...say...the...word
I have used 120gr CX in 6.5 creedmoor - killed really well, was quite happy with them on that front, they did everything hornady said they would. Couldnt get them to shoot great though, super fussy.
