Hornady ECX
Anyone have any experience with ECX?, in particular .308. Looking at trying some 125gr ECX for a max 200yds load. Does this one want to be going fast fast like some other monolithics, or does it work at avg speeds too. Not looking to shoot it subsonic, just not hot.

No experience with the ECX but all the reading I've done on monos indicates that the faster the better. Push them as fast as you're comfortable to.

Theres a few out now that don’t need speed, Barnes TacTx punch big holes without speed, these ECX are meant to be similar, but I am interested to know if they live up to the advertising, also if they are as advertised, pushing them too fast may cause problems too.

The ecx is just a blunt CX designed to function in some traditional chamberings that har big blunt bullets. It requires speed like most other monos and in all honesty what they consider opened up is pretty weak. I'd say best performance comes from the impact speed with monos more so than weight so the 125s are probably a good bet as the 308 should sling em quick. There are monos designed for slower impacts speeds and open up well (almost all are designed for the 300blk like the tactx or 110cx etc) but still don't kill as well as a faster mono typically. Monos don't kill as well as lead and cost more I'd ask why spend the extra.
