    Hornady ELD 162 help

Is anyone using these in 7mm RM? I'm really struggling with them, no signs of excessive pressure and have gone 2 grains over book max with 75grs of 2225, coal is 87mm which is magtight. Tried different seating depths and charge weights.

    Pretty happy with the BERGER 140 vlds , 74grains 2225 , coal is 87mm.

Rifle is a Kimber Mountain Ascent, any help with the elds would be appreciated

    Cheers

If your rifle regularly shoots that lower left group with vdls i wouldnt worry about the eldx's.

That said. How close to the lands are you with the eldx's?

    Hornady ELD 162 help

I think I've still got a couple of mm before hitting the lands? Totally unscientific measurement though , just looking at marks on projectile and measuring oal

I heard the elds may not have stabilised at only 100m's.

As a local have you ever heard about a 1000m range at the southern end of the lake?

Nah I haven't heard of that range at all? Would be keen to check it out though!

Might be worth a try seating them so they are just off the lands, might need to invest in the hornady gauge setup.

If they haven't stabilised at 100 yards they never will. If you are referring to the concept that a bullet can group (just as a example) Moa at 100 and then under Moa at further ranges, it a myth

Maybe your rifle just doesn't like them. It happens.

I think I'll try seating a few right out to single feed , then 2217 if that doesn't work

watch your pressure if using fairly hot loads and suddenly seating at the lands or jamming. it's a recipe for a nasty surprise...

Are you single feeding on the saum or seating to mag length?

Try 2217, works great in 7mmRM and around 70-71.5gn (I went up to 74gn with a HSP)...and seating quite deep. With the HSP it had a 0.5MOA node at 71.5gn but jammed into the rifling (not great) and then another node seated back quite a way at 74gn.
