The ELD-X are the Hunting version with some controlled expansion engineered in.
Only the 30 cal have been released so far and we are due them just after X-mas
Some nice looking BCs

ELD-X testing
Interestingly the pic shows a sharp cut off edge at the tail, that is supposed to be something like a 4% gain alone but hard to make, or they have chopped the picture. Sure are some interesting long range rounds making the scene this last year.
Funny how on the Hornady site the Amax BCs are much higher than published on that article on Shotgunnews....:ORLY:
When shooting light projectiles at stupid velocities in the 22-243 imp ie 45grains at 4500+fps the only projectiles that survive are Plastic or Hollow point projectiles, the lead tips melt into a grey mist...
My personal experience with putting plastic tips in monolithic projectiles consistently shows that plastic tips are detrimental to BC.
I'm not entirely sure why but back to back comparisons with show it every time, accuracy is not effected, possibly enhanced even but the results speak for themselves....
I will believe the published BCs when I see Bryan Litz tests & releases the data :)
I would say Brian has some in his pocket about now :)
I bet they're like a dollar a projectile. Would be nice if they released a 70gr .224 version.
75 g and 80g A-Max have that corner covered

What are they worth?
BUELLER!!!
I'd had cold days when I had Amaxs hitting very accurately at 1km, then days I couldn't find them at all (hotter days). Those adds for the ELDs are a bit too slick imo. Making out that the Messiah projectile is here and we'll all be shooting 'match accuracy'. We'll that will be true either way because some of us shoot really shitty in matches!
Btw I know a colder day is more likely to have lower DA and therefore higher air density(more heat to this tip deformation debate) but there you have it. I found trouble on hotter days with less density and I have no idea why.
