    Hornady Heavy Magnum Ammo

Has anyone else tested 458 win mag 500 gr HM for real world velocity with a Chronograph.
I get 2063 fps from CZ 550 25" not sure how long there barrel is to get 2260 fps. Just interested to see if there is such a discrepancy with other caliabers.

Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

Only thing i can think of is that the .458 win mag is very temp sensitive with its relatively small case capacity and compressed loads and may give closer to those velocities in tropical conditions, they probably still a bit optomistic!

I would say your chrony is reading wrong, because it is farking shitting itself John

Try it again closer to the evening or on an overcast day and there is a chance it will read different again.

I will try it again but I was getting 2600 fps with 300 gr at a starting load that ADI put at 2670 fps my gun may just be slow.
