Hornady seating die - Amax stem

Got a hornady seating die for the 308 - not redding but better than the lee one I was using.

It leaves a ring around the projectile where it touches when seating. Is it worth getting the 308 amax (150-175grain) seating stem for it? Im seating 165 nosler ballistic tips

My standard hornady die took a reasonable bite out of the 6.5 140gr amax
Got the stem and it didn't do it.
I really don't know if it would have made that much difference but as I shoot out fairly far I thought I'd get the Amax stem just in case
Also looks a lot better when you have a 50 box full of them.

Heres one then, if i also get a 7mm amax stem any reason i cant use the 308 die for the remmag? As far as i can tell the only difference is the size of the hole in the alignment sleeve. Anyone able to give me the external diametre of a 7mm stem?

Read on some US forum bout a guy that puts bedding compound in the stem then seats a projectile covered with release agent to customize his seating stems to the projectiles he uses.

Redding do one that will upgrade the std seater to a micrometer setup. Cost like $70 off WSI but it's been great. No more ring marks
