Thread: How about this for quality control??!!

I bought a brand new, sealed pkt of unprimed Remington 270wsm brass. Had to use scissors to open the pkt.

As I usually do, I ran them all through the neck expander part of the FL die just to get any dents out of the necks. It was a pretty casual exercise. One of the cases got stuck so I looked down and there was this great big long case with a magnum belt in the shell holder!

It was a factory primed 7mm Rem Mag case (brand new) with a .270 neck! What the hell was that about??!!

Haven't done anything. Any complaint would have to go through the system of retailer and distributer and then to the States I guess.

I don't want to complain, but I will let the retailer know (who is very reputable) and they can do what they like.

Must have had the same team that does quality control for the Remington 770 on the job that day....

I once had a 300 Win Mag round in an unopened box of LIVE factory 7mm Rem Mag from Remington. Fortunately I noticed before i chambered the round.

it wouldn't have chambered anyhow, be a different story if it was the other way round though!

Have had similar but different with a box of 308 remmington. One case had the headstamp 243 win 308 bullet in the other end though.

I found a .45cal projectile in a box of 7mm 120gr. Don't think that would fit down the barrel.

Remington quality control... an oxymoron.

I think someone did that with a "shop mixed" packet at the North Auckland NZDA last year... cant find the thread. Not too accurate but fired !!!

Had a packet of ammo returned last year .It had a primer the wrong way around in one round .
