Yeah, I thought he might have chimed in on this topic considering the number of animals he reckons he's decked with the 300 Blackout.
From a personal point of view I hve been using a load of 8.5 gr Trail Boss and Roberts 151gr cast projectiles in a .308 on goats around residential areas, 28 animals only. Keeps residents happy with lack of noise. I have found them to be effective out to 50'ish yards but I haven't tried any further. Would use on deer/pig if opportunity presented itself.This load just happens to be spot on at 50 yards in this rifle without altering scope from full power loads so thats a happy coincidence.
Have also played around with reduced loads in .223. They work but then so do 40gr round-nose solid and hollow-point standard velocity .22. Just not meant to use .22 on DOC ground bordering residential areas.
