A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
Great what you can do with water pressure. There's generally no problem depriming boxer crimped primers using the fl die but with Berdan I simply use a sharpened nail punch & angle it in the firing pin dent, piercing it then levering it out, I just use a ground back drill bit ( to go over shell anvil) to take off military crimp. It's less messy & just as quick when one uses a holder that takes multiple shells.
I get great accuracy from the military cases & is cheaper.
I made one of these , and tried it on 223 brass , my extraction rate is 1 every 15 odd , I made mine a very good interference fit and still it doesn't work as good .......great idea , I wish I could get mine to work better , ...

when I hit it with the hammer it interferes with the water ..................................smart bum

So the bottom part is just a stand?
I have never had a problem just resizing/decapping crimped boxer cases as per normal but have only done 7.62 not 5.56

308Win One chambering to rule them all.
Small rifle primers will have less area/force on them for the same whack, case size should be irrelevant.

A bigger hammer is the answer to and cause of most engineering problems

yup the bottom bit was just to make it stand up on its own , I can fill it with water and the piston part will just sit there , not dropping so I know I got great sealing , but its just not working like the vid ..... I don't have any 223 dies at all yet ..... thought I could do this first then tumble with stainless steel media , and get them ready for when I start reloading for my AR

Stupid question probably but could that cupping stand be causing some resistance?
Could you set it up to have a free whoosh out the bottom like after a good curry by sitting it on an uneven surface?
If not that, could the fit up of the piston and cylinder be too tight causing surface friction drag on the walls of the chambers to dissipate the hammer blow?
As VC says, a larger hammer is required. I use a finishing hammer, generally speaking
good thoughts , I will cut a relief and see if that helps , I can always turn it down if needed .
