Can anyone tell me about this from -personal- experience? I'm currently shooting 150 LRABs in my .280 Ackley but they shoot best past mag length, not ideal..
Thanks

Have you tried Nosler 150g Ballistic Tips
They would be the only projectile I would want to use in a 280
Their BC would be quite inferior to LRABs, hence thinking about the ELDs. I have some BTs sitting on the shelf actually.

Other options 162 ELDMS or 168 Bergers, what mag length have you got to work with? I’m running the old 162 AMAX in 280ai with N560 at 3.32 - 3.34 COL
85.4mm is it, and that's about 2mm less than the LRABs can tolerate.
Change projectile looks like your only option
Don't be afraid to try a deeper than you think seating depth. You often read where people try between 10 &50 thoujumpamd have no luck. Then out of frustration go way back to 120- 150 thou and the rifle shoots well. Would be worth a try for the sake of half a dozen rounds. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
If no good, sample packs from somewhere. Hornady I think recommend 20thou as a starting point for eldm/x

The Hornady podcast said that even with 100 shot groups they couldn't find any benefit in changing seating depth with the caveat that they were only testing their bullets and others may differ.
I have the same trouble and now run two loads. Flat base soft point in the mag for spook’n’shoot or follow-up shots, and single-feed 162 grain ELD-Ms for longer shots
I use the precision hunter factory ammo with the eldx in my 280ai and I imagine it's jumping a fair bit? I can measure it if needed?
Alternatively have you tried the eldm? They are a great projectile aswell and may not be as sensitive?
I thought about single feeding for LR shots but I'd prefer to avoid that.
Never fired a single ELD of any sort, hence the questions.
Plenty jump tolerance I just knocked the 150eldx back to over 100thou jump and it’s shooting much better than 20 off
Just measured 123jump
Barrel is 1 in 9. Mag as stated previously: 85.4mm.
I think the reamer must have a fair bit of freebore, never saw the actual specs.
I have a sampler pack of 162 ELD-Xs on order and will see how they go. As I'm shooting sika almost exclusively, I don't see the need to go any heavier than 160 class.
162 ELD-X handle plenty of jump no problems. I had a Sako A7 7mm rem mag and loaded to mag length, no issues with about 150 thou of jump.
