ah but you CAN fire a .308 through a .270...definately NOT recommended but it has happened a few times over the years. a 30/06 would be less stressful but still definately not a good idea.

take Jhon up on offer to swap....in the long run you will be happier as headstamps are correct....
Ive done .270 into 30-06 and other way around and 270 into 25/06 but in all cases (pun intended ) it was to finish off a batch and the fired cases were chucked afterwards...
Managed something similar once at our Club. Fired off the first lot of 6.5x47 , all good. Next shoot, same wind conditions, first shot -nothing- appeared on the tablet. WTF?? same again second shot. Bigger WTF. Then realised the ammo batch was actually for my 6x47...
Try sizing just one. Put a projo in and see if it chambers
I stand corrected I ment with the muddled up head stamps of 08 based cartridges.308 parent . I seem to remember a yarn at the handloaders in Christchurch about a 3006 spraying rounds everywhere federal blue box . It was labeled 3006 on the box and was a mix of .270 and 3006 someone muck have being comparing the cartridges in store and got sloppy putting them away. Was just a rumour though I wasn’t their
Chamber the brass first as it might take several attempts to get it bumped correctly . That’s what I did anyway to the naked eye it looked mint but was a crush fit so I just kept taking it back in tiny bits until it chambered nicely then added the projectiles worked a charm
Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated. Has clarified my thoughts on the subject.
The engineer in me likes things neat and tidy and I also made a pact with myself, when I started collecting gear and components, that I would apply the KISS principle from day one and take a minimalist approach to reloading. Just have what I need and not what I want.
I’ll swap/sell them out.
Cheers all.
