    lead for hard cast bullets.

    G'day,
Where would I buy lead/tin at a reasonable price for casting hard 44 mag bullets? The clip- on type wheel weights or linotype lead is ideal.
Copper wash bullets work up to around 1200 before gas cutting. I need to fling them at around 1800fps, so the harder the better.

    Cheers.

Have you tried using the gold lube Top Scores? Worked ok for me in 9mm and 357 and not too expensive considering the price of power and lead these days.

Thank you for the information gentlemen. I shall rummage through the old girl's cutlery for pewter then.
Top Score lube sounds the go too. Perhaps available in OZ? I'll check it out.

I got mine from Taieri Arms but I think I might have noticed some on Gun City's site.

Chupacabra, The bloke Dave from Taieri Arms reckons that they only coat bullets with this stuff if you send them the bullets. He also says that they have never sold any of their coating as it is way too expensive. To distribute as a dangerous substance courier is also awkward. He asks if I had this stuff confused with Lee lube..!
    Thanks anyway.

Interesting hmmmm, bought them there well over a year or more ago though, worked out to about 13c a bullet. Bought about 1000 of the little suckers.

Sorry, should have made it more clear on the lube thing. I'd seriously love to get a hold of that crabby patty formulae though. hehe.

More like it seems to not let it get out of control, but again, ive never had bad leading so not sure how effective it would be once it got to that stage. may need to escalate to

I make up a solvent called Eds red and this lifts the lead by getting underneath it somehow. Really bad leading I use a bronze wool wrapped around a piece of dowling. Marine outlets sell the bronze wool but is getting harder to source. Shooting factory loads just irons the lead out.
