    My only advice is assume that everything has at least a bit of moisture in it.
    I use a blow torch to cook off any moisture before using any tools (ladel, stirrer, spoon, ingot moulds etc.)
    I had an incident where a spoon looked totally dry, but dipped into the lead to stir, and 'POP' a small steam explosion sent a few tiny splatters of lead flying.
    Not super dangerous, unless you dont have glasses on, but sore as hell.
