    Light bullets in the creedmore

Anyone doing this? Was thinking of using 120- 130gr.
Still have good bc and will get a good velocity.
Any real world results out there?

Use the 130 scirocco II as my hunting round, pretty spendy now but excellent results, took most of my stuff in Africa with it. 130 Berger also works very well.

Shot a heap of deer with a 260rem with 129gn ABLR. No trouble at all.

Inside most hunting distances, the increased velocity often makes up for the slightly lighter bullets.

Using the hornady superformance factory loads with the 129cn SST. Bought a heap of this prior to getting back into reloading. These projectiles work really well on deer size targets. Recovered some nice mushrooms from the off side shoulder.

120 ballistic tips are a good game bullet. Penetrate well.

My cousin in SA hunts with 123gr SST. He shoots Kudu with it!

I'm using 120gr BT's, they are very accurate and kill well with plenty of penetration. Have taken goats, chamois, fallow & red deer so far, all under 300m & no probs.

I had been using the Sako factory rounds with the 130gn tipped gamekings (cant find it anywhere now tho!). They shot really well and killed very quickly and cleanly.
Perhaps having the additional velocity over bullet weight works just as well, or better, than a 10% heavier bullet going slower...?

What sort of velocity would you expect to get from a 130gn?
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Shot 123 Scenars out of my Musgrave at @3140fps. Did not get to shoot red or fallow, but were fortunate enough to shoot several Bluewildebeest, Blesbuck, warthog and springbuck with it. Kills like the 142, the animals I hunted did not seem to notice the difference.

95gr Vmax's at 3240fps worked great in the Howa for varminting and short range comps.

Just out of interest @Dreamer is that within book data? Or any pressure signs at that?

I purchased a new Sako S20 recently and it is shooting the factory load Sako Blade 120gn @ sub 1/4 MOA.
Mainly controlling some pigs at the moment so no deer results yet but 8 shoulder shot boars ranging from 100-175lb with ranges from 180-275 yrds have all been bang/flops.
    Very happy with results.
