    Lightweight loads for 30-06

Hi all, got a mate looking a using 110gr Barnes TTSX in his Tikka T3 30-06

Anyone running 110gr or 125gr projectiles in theirs?
Mostly for fallow, pigs 20m too 200m and the odd red out to 300m.

I use to run 125gr Sierra soft point or 130gr Speer HP, from memory it was 60gr 2209. No chrono back in those days so no idea of velocity. Has an absolute hammer on goats though.

One of the rifles l have never been able to bring myself to sell is a nearly 20 yr old Rem Mountain rifle in 06 my wife brought me. I have taken it around the world as my back up rifle as a guide, one of the reasons being the ability to use such a wide range of bullet weights effectively for various game.

My go to light load is the 125gn Ballistic Tip & 57gn of AR2208 doing 3300fps, it is a devastating load on everything up to Antelope ,goats & pigs. l sight it in for zero at 200 mtrs with this load which roughly gives it from memory 40 mm high at 100m & 100mm low at 300m,meaning quick shoulder hold all the way out to 300.

loaded 125grn taipans for buddy...they decapitate goats....nosler ballistic tips of 130grn hps would be awesome. less recoil...

A 150 gn at about 2600 fps with a reduced charge of 2209 (55-56gns ?) is pretty gentle shooting if its recoil your trying to avoid.

yep not sure if ya want light recoil or light projetile loads? a 110 TTSX going mach ten will do damage at 3200 odd id almost assume!

otherwise ive used as little as 45gr of 2206h under 150? gr FN loads. there is alot of recil managed loads aroundfor the big big 06 with heavier projectiles if ya need.

If youre after a reduced recoil, low velocity load, Imr 4198 powder is awesome even in the 3006.

Pm me if you want further details.

I find the IMR4198 works far better than 2206H for reduced charge/recoil loads, it gives far better accuracy and can be used for almost any cartridge from 223 to 3006.
