AR2209 :)
I have used 2208 with them, very good accuracy and ok speed.
Can't remember what my max was sorry.

ask a guy on here called lostlegend he has it bang on perfect every single round floorless
Both 2208 & 09. I used Sierra 80 or 85 grain bullets for great accuracy for years. Later went to 105 grain bullets. Couldn't tell the difference accuracy wise.
A great, accurate Parker Hale Safari was that rifle.
AR2209 under a 95 Berger is scary accurate out of my .243
W760
ok thanks for the replys ill use up my 2208 and then get some 2209 any tried 2209 in 6.5x55
Do you know what your Barrel twist rate is ?? If its 1:10 you are borderline for 100g rounds ...
Anyway : the ADI site has the load data for their powders HERE
the OCW site has some load recipes for 243 HERE
I've just about given up trying to get anything bigger than 95gn to shoot accurately out of my 243. 1:10 twist is just too slow
Targex 80's are shittingly accurate and once I get them tuned targex 95's will be awesome too.

its a 1/10 h&r handi rifle ive got 4 barrels for it I want to get the 243 sorted first 100g Winchesters shot well in it might try something lighter ive got a 55g pill thrower and a 140g pill thrower as well so something in between will be good
You close to Warkworth area, I could give you a few Sierra 85grn HPBT to try
What weight are the 6mm Barnes bullets? If one could get an 80grain Barnes moving fast that would be effective as IMHO.
Sierra were all I could source back in the day.
thanks im over that way from time to time do you want some 100s to try
Ive got some 100's to try also 95's when I get around to it , but im starting to favour 80-85's
The 95 ld targex went really well in mine.
Oh yeah, don't go via tardme, Bryns email address is
targex10.1@gmail.com
Email him and he'll send you his pricelist

I have found my rem sps likes flat based using 2209. The 95 hdy sst go well and the sierra 85sp as well, the sierra sp is to explosive on goats or anything bigger. The hdy 87 hollow point boat tail are no where near as accurate. Trying to find an 87 grain flat based to use on deer. May have a look at the hdy 87 sp?
The V-max is pretty explosive up close.
The 95 Berger is great on deer!
Targex make a 105 grn that will stabilize in a 1/10 twist. My barrel is only 20" so I use the Targex 95 grn @ 3k with N550. Remember though that while these bullets really perform, they are quite fragile. They work best with lung shots. They will very seldom pass through. If you use them at long range (350-450 yds), there will be minimal blood trail.
I also use Speer 80 grn @ 3.2K and they are pretty good. You will get better penetration than with the Targex and they often pass through which I like.
At the moment I'm giving Nosler BT 95 grn a try. They are meant to penetrate very well.
Nothing though beats the Targex for BC and longer range in my experience.
Thats the one I've got that I've just about given up on.
It's ok , but not as tack driver as the 80's are or the 95's will be. Maybe I just need to perservere ....
For now I've got the 95's to finish tuning , and then maybe I'll get time to have another go with the 105s.
What powder you using under them ? I'm using a compressed Ar2213sc

Had one for years don't know why I sold it, used sierra 85 hps and hornady 87 hps with 2209 deadly on all animals and accurate as.
Anyone using the 90grain speer hot cor on game. My m700 shoots well with these using 44g of 2209 but havnt tried them on game yet.
@Tahr where did you find the 80 grn Speer hot cor they don't list them on the Speer web site, google failed me.. is this the exact same pill they use in the Federal 80grn power-shok
I used a lot of 85 sierra HPBT shooting over long distances in the tussock during the culling, meat hunting era. I loved them but the deer didn't.
Very accurate and hard hitting projectile.
The Norma 205 powder we used is no longer available mores the pity.
Bugger, hopefully some can be found, it is by far the most accurate factory load I've ever tried , would love to load a few
Graeme, I have a wee stock of those pills
has anyone tried the buger 95g VLD in a 1:10 and if so did it work out accuracy wise
They were stunningly accurate in mine.Quote:
