    loading 243 soon

About to start loading 95 Targex and maybe 95 Bal tips in 243 Tikka Strata- going to be cut to 18 with a DPT muzzle can- for sika and reds inside 300/ bayonet distance.
    I have lots of 2206h and a tub 2209.
I know short barrels will do better with 06h
Question is , 18 inch still counts as 2206h-able? I would have thought so- but asking if anyone's had same combo- 18 inch 243 and 2206h.
I'm looking for actual real world experience/info rather than hypotheticals please kind sirs.

    cheers all

Maybe not much help but 20 inch tube
    2209, 95gr Nbt
    3150 absolutely devastating on deer.

I tried both with 95 sst I found 2209 better but didn’t go with either in the end it was a sako 75 and for what it’s worth it when I chased the lands I thought the barrel was poked I knocked it back to saami and it shoots lights out just in case

The fastest powder in a long barrel is the fastest powder in a short barrel as well. Just use 2209 for the .243.

95 Targex will likely yield about 50fps more than the 95 NBT, leave out the 2206h and use your 2209 - 43/44 gns the sweet spot, am using that for 105 Targex so quite safe. For a lesser velocity the Targex is a better fast killer than the NBT. Real world experience in .243 with both. In my experience T3 barrels have always been a bit slower for the same powder weight and pill too.

2208 (in-between the two) went well in 20 inch barrel with 90s 95s and 105s.
3150 fps 40grains of it with 95 nolser ballistic tips. You won't go wrong with 2209 but any bulkier and you won't get enough in the case, any slower and you'll get big muzzle flashes too.

2209, Superformance or RL17 all work well in 243 with 90 - 103 gn pills

Reloder 26, if you have access to it, has given really good velocity and accuracy in my .243s, both short barrels.
2208 hasn't done me all that well in .243 and haven't tried 2206h. 2209, superformance, reloder 17, reloder 23 all work reasonably well. 2213sc gives superb accuracy but less velocity in my shorter barrels.
Targex, nosler 95gr bt and 95gr Hornady SST all very good on deer.

Thanks everyone for the info- yeah I'm gonna avoid Alliant powders, supply too sketchy.

Ran some R17 with 85gr Sierra. Great grouping but not much around.

I started with Win 780 supreme then moved to RL26 for heavy bullets in my fast twist 243, Staball 6.5 on paper also looks Good.
Then for mid and lighter bullets in my standard twist 243 I've been using Win 760 or its twin H414.
