I have a lube pad but find it's a pain to use. You can't get past lube on your finger tips and sliding them up and down the case. By the way I am talking about reloading lol
Edit: lee stuff in tube is all I use
AKA Tussockstomper
neatsfoot oil
I use white needle oil on a piece of 4x2 put the cases in a plastic screw top jar with the oily rag and tumble for a minute or two, you get a thin film of oil over the entire case very useful for full length sizing. Only takes a minute to do 200 .223, or .308.
Is that just a normal light oil do you need to wash the cases
Its a light oil sort of like medical parrafin oil. Got about 5 litres of the stuff given to me. There seems to be piss all oil on them and they size like butter but I shake the cases in a clean towel afterwards to remove any oil and especially fouling which seems to dissolve in it quite easily as i dont tumble clean anything
Throw your lube pad in the rubbish bin, and instead get a tin of Imperial sizing die wax.
Gunsmithing &Reloading Tools - Imperial Sizing Die Wax - 1oz, Case Lube
whats so good about imperial sizing die wax and how do u apply it . i use a pad and rcbs lube and it works good but its messy and slow
When you get your first case stuck in a die using anything else, you will then know why we have changed to the Imperial sizing wax ;-). To apply its a simple swipe of the finger over the pot of wax (only need a tiny bit) then rub first finger and thumb together then rub on the body of the case with finger and thumb, can normally get two or three cases done with one swipe over the wax. Its amaising how little you need on a case, down towards the base is more important ive found. Ive never had a stuck case or dented up shoulders (from too much lube) since using Imperial die wax.
I've just started using the Hornady (why do some say Horna day?) One shot.
Prior to this, RCBS lube and per @stub, it's a little messy.
The One shot, just spray and play away....
anyway, spray at an angle while in a case rack platter thing and you'll get some down the necks for the sizing there too.
Awful hard to get yer finger with lube down that tight hole.
just saying.
Something which combines really well with the wax is Imperial dry lube for the necks. Dip the neck in the dry lube application medium then smear the body with wax.
I use a hornady lube on the pad, got it from steves wholesalers at the sika show a few years ago just comes in a little clear bottle. I suspect any lube will be fine, I find it a lot easier than rubbing each case. I use the dry lube on the necks too its great stuff. I dry lube 5 cases then roll them on the pad. takes no time at all.
Many ways to skin a cat though. Just experiment and see what works for you.
Just interested in what to use that won't react with the primer and powder if it gets inside the case
