Magnum or large rifle primers in 7saum

Somehow I was looking for a smaller caliber for my hybrid and now I’ve got a 7saum.
What’s everyone using for primers , large rifle or magnum ? I’m guessing magnum as it’ll be over 60 grains of powder .
    I’ve got 2217,2225 and reloader 25 .
Also plenty of 2208 & 2209 that apparently works pretty well with the lighter projectiles.
    Cheers all

64g 2217 over LR primer in mine but I’ve only fired 14 shots so still working up a load. Speed is a little low from GRT data.

The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I’ve got a REM Model 7SAUM, run mag primers but others hve reported LR primers work well no give lower ES. Used to run 2217 with 162 gn pills, or RL23 which got me 2920 fps with 168 Berger’s. Tried RL26 with 162 ELDMs got 3020 fps (22in bbl). So RL25 would also be worth a look.

Mate wore out a barrel experimenting with different projectiles and primers. He found standard lr primers gave better sd than magnums

I'd start with LR standard and only go up if you can't find a load that works for whatever reason. My feeling is the older style heavily retardant coated ball powders that really did need magnum primers are not so much of an issue nowadays. I know a guy that was happily running LR standard in everything including his Rem Mag, made it easier to only have one type for everything he thought which is fair enough.
