But the smallest caliber I own now is 6.5 Grendel
Well I dug out the 25 RF Stevens favorite I brought for parts last year ( or might not have looked at the caliber markings well enough) and cleaned the barrel to see if it was worth fixing for you

    IT IS NOT

    What a grouse outcome.

If you have a lathe and 25 ACP dies there are ONLY 11 steps in process to make this RF brass
    2 special lathe mandrels
A modified 22 hornet shell holder
    And some reamers

Realistically I could maybe get them down to 10 minutes per case if I did a batch of 20

Hi Thanks for your thoughts and info .Have being thinking along those wildcat [mild pussy ]myself.
just ran the 22 Hornet through the 25 acp die ,just a skim on the lathe to tidy up at the rim end .
But if we expand the 22 part of the Hornet to the 25 cal size we get about 36mm in total length
which is twice the cap. of powder vs the 25acp ..Leaving a rim @ the Hornet size makes it very easy to extract [my gun smith would like this ]
    Cheers to all

    Hi i just measured the .25 cal airgun H&N HP slugs = .250 x 32 grain
i believe with a swift kick up the bum these will expand and seal the barrel [ soft lead ]

I have thought of doing something similar with an offset priming blank for my .56 Spencer but care would have to be taken for correct alignment with the firing pin for every shot.

@gundoc a friend had asked me to do this for a 56-56 Spencer carbine he has
I just haven't had time to look into the parent case that it could be done with.
But it's the same basic technique that's used to run original kammerladders as well

Actually I think with a bigger stronger parent case it would maybe be a lot easier that dealing with this very thin and fragile 25 RF brass

And clearly the use of the Spencer's magazine is no longer an option due to timing the primer on to the firing pin

I would be making solid turned cases for it. The magazine could be used with a visual alignment check before fully closing the breech. The other alternative is to make a set of forming dies and make drawn rimfire cases out of copper sheet, followed by the aggravation of making a priming compound. I am not that desperate yet!

And this is why it's a bit of a shame we lost the 25 and 32 RF

    Left 22 LR
    Middle 22 WMR
    Right 25 RF Stevens

there are priming compound instructions around the show..preper sites etc....they are doing .22lr now!!!! reusing old cases that have already been used..I guess it would be easy way to keep track of how many times a case had been used...how many dings in the rim??

Hi Guys just a quick test to see how a 25 acp will run in a carbine barrel .
took the guts [powder and lead ] and fitted them into a 25-20W case had to add some wadding to hold the powder against the cap
it shot true @ 70m and via a 16 inch barrel plus 25 cal Aimsport supp it was very very quiet indeed
it is a pity that we might have to make the brass and ammo as this will be a great silent wacker
