Managospeed, tells it like it is. slooooooow load.

Got the .17 hornet back from surgery, (chop to20") this morning, and decided to sight it in, before the rain arrived, chucked in the .17 fireball and 2506, figgering I would check speeds on hand loads.
set up to sight in the .17 hornet, 100 fps down from old loads, but the new CFE black out loads, have 400 fps more, so 3630fps with a 20gr, sweet.
put five rounds threw the .17 fireball with 25gr, 3740 fps, perfect,
tired the 20gr, but too fast, and kept getting an err, oh well, likely at 4100fps or more.

right out with the finnlight 2506, 110gr accubonds, and 50g R19,
boom, 2660fps, fuck that's slooooooow, must be incorrect, nope after two more, (My 7x57 is pushing a 162gr a-max at that speed)
ok, got a box for a ladder test, so skip 51 and go to 51.5g---2828fps, for three shots avg, fuck!, the .260 is pushing a 120g at 3910, and better BC.
    52g still slow,
ok last 3 at 52.5, 2909fps, still slow, 300fps less than Nosler book.

I was planning on taking the 2506 down south next week, not so sure now, guess its time to try another powder,

Have been using Winchester factory 110gr, box says 3100, not so sure now, only got 4 rounds left, so was a bit torn on weather to check speed on them.

Just goes to show, how far out a load can be, off the books, 400fps plus in this case.

Just another case of the 25-06 being over rated and the reality of not actually needing the speed you think you need

Don't think so, as it reads 4000 plus on 40gr .22-250 and .55g B-tips, out of 6mm Remington, forgot the code, was showing a detection but not a speed, its a pretty small pill,

May need to adjust the sensitivity setting for the smaller pill. Found I needed to do that to get it to work with the air rifle pellets.
There are only three types of people in this world. Those that can count, and those that can't!
