    Trouble with this approach is that the case is currently stuck in the hand primer shell holder, which does not fit my press.

    Oh la dee da bloody hand primer ay!

    Remove all live primers from hand prime, don saftey glasses, deprime with whatever you have or you could remove the stem from your die and give it a "tap" down the case to deprime.
    "Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

    Yup, should be able to remove case holder and case from the hand primer. May even be able to quietly pry the primer out from the bottom with something like a scriber.
