I'm after any data for these two powders for use in the 284 with 162gr amax. (Or if someone was playing with quick load I use an 80mm oal in 19" barrel)

Am trying 2209 at mo and also some new powder. Results from new powder ok but I want better, will report after my next trip to range. Although mine is 24 inch barrel

Hori, I googled the topic for CraigC and found a lot of data on UK and U.S. sites about N560 and 284. In the main they seem to use it for the heavier 180 grn. I wonder what N550 would work like in a shorter barrel? It burns similar to 2209.
Another interesting powder that I'm using with good results in my .243 and 270 is H Hybrid v100.
Will have to have another Google myself now. I bought a can of N560 @ Hamills Manukau closing down sale and have been wondering what to use it in. Quite weird, it is a 1lb cannister - must be the only VV powder not packed in 1kg. Maybe for the USA market. Hardly enough powder in 1lb for me to get to excited about. Will look at my 284 with 180gr.
Please post again with findings,
I've only got a bit of R17. Oh no!

Thanks mate, had been reading those forums and struggling to find them using it with 162s was wondering if you would be able to fit enough in there or not (I do like a nice full case) I found one guy who run a heap of tests and used it with 120,140,150 so there are bits of data either side of the weight range I'm looking for...typical...
The link to the 120-150 range tests is below

It's more a curiosity than necessity that I'm still playing, got one load with 2209 that has an accuracy node at 2660 with sd of 5, bit lower in velocity than had hoped but the accuracy is exceptional and very happy with sd. Hit pressure with 2209 at 2780, re17 added 150fps to velocity before hitting pressure, curious about other powders and what accuracy/sd combos I can get, all adds to trigger time
The nosler manual v7 for a 150 grn projectile in 284 has 51 grns of n550 as giving the highest velocity of all loads.
Being a bit faster burning than n560, that might work well in your shorter barrel Hori?
With the info supplied QL gives 2760ft/sec for 58.6gr of N560 @ 60k peak PSI, 2638 for 56.1gr of N160 for the same peak pressure. Both are compressed loads, 104% & 107% respectively. The COAL seems very long however, not much neck engagement. Re22 is very similar to N560 as expected. N550 will fit the case better, 52.5gr is 93.5% fill for 60k peak PSI again but velocity is down on the above slower double-based powders; 2690ft/sec. Shortish barrel, can't be helped it seems.
This is straight off QL and the usual disclaimers apply for unverified loads with 60k PSI peak selected as an arbitrary reference point, suitability for the application unknown, etc...
Cheers, T.
Is that for the 162?

I am shooting a 24inch barrel with 168g berger classic hunters. 53g of 2209 got this today on a warm barrel, and slightly bigger group's on cold barrel, speed 2740 gps. Have also been trying new to nz IMR 7977. No load data available at mo on 284 so have used 280 data as a guide based on some advice I received. So far groups good between 59-60g. Got 5 rnds at 60 loaded fir next calm day. Speed up in the late 27, early 2800, compressed load. Pics with verny IMR 7977, group without is 2209. Shot at 100m
