    N560 users

I wanted to quiz N560 users & hear their experiences regarding temperature sensitivity in typical NZ hunting conditions to confirm whether the powder would be a consideration for a long range 6.5x55 Amax load. If I could get accuracy & a healthy 2,800fps with velocity consistency over the typical NZ range of temperatures I'd be a happy man. Your thoughts?

Seems ok to me. Have used it my 6.5x55 ever since it became available. Nothing matches it for the combination of speed and fine accuracy. I get both of what you are after. Haven’t noticed any dramas in the summer and my loads are right up there.

I use N550 in my 243, and thats very good too.

Pretty consistent compared to the Reloader range of powders. I use it in my 6.5x55. I get pretty much bang on 2600fps out of a 19.5" barrel. Lapua brass. I think you'd get 2800 with the appropriate barrel length. 2209 apparently gives better velocity but I can't say I've tried it.

Used it in my. 270 with 140gn accubonds summer and winter an never had any issues.
    Fairly hot load too, 60gns.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Great powder for speed and usually very accurate, does not pressure up as quickly as the single burn powder i.e. N160, but all those N5 series that is the double burn powder with additives do eat throats quicker, may not be an issue with a hunting rifle.

2209 should get you to 2800 easily. Cheaper and probably better availability

I wonder at what pressure though. This is intended for a Blaser so were looking to get 2,800fps with a 140gr with safe pressures. I don't fancy a bolt in my face

Just put an extra plastic washer in☺
Nothing wrong with N560. Used it in a few calibres and goes well.
RL-17 has a rep for all sorts of dramas but gives me excellent ES and velocity in my .260 improved. Velocity goes up 20ish fps in the warmer months but ES is still good.

Mate uses in his swede, ES of about 9fps not unusual for him to get multiple duplicates in a string.

    N560 or RL-17?
My low ES would have a lot more to do with my quality barrel than my reloading I reckon
