Yes, a 257 Creedmore would be a very effective hunting caliber especially now that high bc pills are available. But in same vein, why not 25-08? Much of a much.
The wildcat that tweaks my interest is a 30-7PRC. About 70gn powder pushing 180-200 gn pills in an efficient cartridge- it would be an appealing option.
Whims really isn't it. There are actually some very good 25 cal cartridges out there. they just are not popular for some reason- probably lack of projectiles- But if the cal can jump on the bandwagon and make it popular then great! its an actual choice worth having.
