Norma versus ADI .308 primers

Hi Guys

I'd appreciate some feedback on this. I have a .308 load for A Max of 45.2 gn AR2208. Getting 2580 in a 19.5" barrel and very accurate. I've been loading it in two different cases, ADI and Norma. The primers on the ADI cases are much flatter than Norma. I understand ADI is a tougher case so perhaps that makes sense. I'm a little uneasy about the degree of primer flattening on the ADI cases with that load and am considering retiring them and using only Norma, which kind of makes more sense anyway. Primers are Federal LR 210. Do the primers in the ADI cases look too flat to you? There's a row of Norma at the bottom. You can see how different they are. Just wondering if I'm over reacting or not. I suppose I could back off the load with the ADI but that's all getting too complicated. I guess having two brands of cases is just not a good idea.

Oh and this is a Blaser if that makes any difference.

They both look OK to me. But the Norma appear to be handling the load a tiny bit better. They're are not what I would call flat.
Do the fired cases recharmber without sizing? If so I wouldn't worry about it.

Also the blaser will tell you it doesn't like a particular load if the last quarter inch on the bolt closing (locking) on a fired case is a bit stiffer compared to a properly sized case.
I can flick the bolt on my properly sized brass, from half open with my thumb and she will lock up.

It will also be harder to unload that case as the blaser has no cam action to aid primary extraction. You will feel a click that first little bit as you try to unload.

You will always reach your max load in a blaser quicker than a traditional turn bolt.

Cheers thanks for that much appreciated. The fired cases chamber absolutely fine so that's probably all good then. Maybe it's kind of seeing them together that does it. As you say, the Norma does look to be handling it better.

the adi possibly has SLIGHTLY smaller internal capacity than the norma. velocity COULD be slightly different too.... they look ok but warmish to me. R93 seems to have good handle on how your blazer will let you know........

I agree, internal capacity of ADI cases might be smaller, so increased pressure with same load.
Recommended practise is that if you change any component of a load you should start again and work up a new load - even if you use a different lot number of the same powder, projectile, primer or case (which seems a bit OTT to me unless your loads are pushing the limits).

They look OK to me just different brass has different tolerances. So long as extraction is fine they should be good to go.

They look ok, sorrt of brand variation.The other test is if both shoot to the same poi then there isnt a problem.I have a mix of lapua, winnie, federal, highland and hornady cases. Case capacity varies a bit. Primers flatten most with the lapua, but all shoot to the same point. Im dumping the federal as they dont reload at all well the brass seems brittle.

Cheers. I've been told Lapua are thicker walled, hence a bit less capacity, so that makes sense I guess. I've never loaded Lapua although at the mo you can get Lapua in .308 for a lot less than Norma .308 which surprised me. In my case the ADI and Norma shoot to the same POI also.

The ADI brass is military spec same as the stuff they load for the Aussie military it will have less capacity than Norma the main difference is in the shoulder
it is thicker to stop slam fires and cook offs in machine guns perfectly good brass should last many reloads, your primers look fine if they are loading and extracting
ok it's not a problem if you are worried about getting sticky cases buy a small base body die I use one for my M1A never have a problem with rounds not chambering
