    Nosler 7mm 160gr Accubond experiences

    Hey guys,

I am considering using these as my main hunting projectile in my 7mm SAUM. However, I have heard that at least one professional hunting guide down in the South Island has banned his clients from using them because they have lost some animals due to the projectile being too hard and fully penetrating with no expansion.

Most of the experiences I have read about the Accubond has been very favorable, but tends to be overseas hunters. I would really appreciate any feedback from anyone on the forum.

    Cheers,

    Michael

How would you know that the projectiles were expanding or not if the animals weren't recovered?

    Hi Shamus,

That would also be my assumption. I am guessing that this is just the guides own opinion.

I also doubt any guide would ban anyone from using a certain projectile.
From experience most animals that cannot be recovered are because clients can not shoot as good as they say they can.
Fine on paper but when it comes time to do the business in the field, a lot tend to muck it up.
Most clients come over way over gunned, rifle wise and under gunned physically😆

    I used 140gn Accubonds in my 270 @3000fps.
Under 300m they could not be faulted.
    I use 125gn Accubonds in my 308 @3000fps.
At bush ranges they cannot be faulted
    I use 165gn Accubonds in my 300wm @3000fps,
Out to 300m they have done exactly what they should.
I have another load I use in the 300 if ranges are over 300m.

I haven't had any problems with the 160 accubond. i used them in my 7mm mag and shot a few animals with them from about 30 yds to 300 yds. All expanded well and all animals recovered. In my 7SAUM I am using the 140 accubond, only shot one animal with them, a neck shot on a red stag at 200 yds. Killed the stag, so no issues there.

    Hmmm interesting comments so far.

Shearer and Stug, have you had the opportunity to shoot further than 300m with the Accubond?

    Same.
Don't use them for something they weren't intended for.
