Thread: Nosler Accubond Vs Ballistic Tip terminal performance

Like with all projectiles it depends on caliber and weight.
Saying that one brand or model of projectile works well is not accurate. I have heard people say the 6.5mm 140 AB to have poor performance where as I rate the 7mm 168 LRAB at a mv of 2930 out to 700 yards

Where do the LRABs fit into this convo? Are they more like the ABs or the BTs, or the best of both worlds?

I think they are the best of both they seem to perform like AB but at a lower speed so good at longer range.
I feel the B Tips and AB need speed.
Which maybe why people find the 140 AB in 6.5 doesn't go that well.
Ive used the 130AB in the .260 and found them great, and really like the 142 ABLR in the .260 and Creedmoor

From all Ive READ on them its more the worst of both....... they made them more sleak to hold up better out long,but did it to a more stout jacketed pill.... sort of dumb if you stop and reread whats been said above....
and to the OP....... 7X57 has always been a great calibre...sika you say.....keep your BTs for the odd long shot and find a cheaper cup n core PREFERABLY flat or round nosed for the up close/bush work and you will be happy man with a full freezer..... if you really lucky will find projectiles made for the 7mmwaters...which is a necked down 30/30.... they will be rather explody at the higher velocity....

From my research on the 264 win mag, it is a prime candidate for the 140gr accubond. Reportedly the performance of the partition but better ballistically, but a wee bit tough when you get out a bit. the Speed of the 264 would help until it gets out there
It is a pity in its case the 142lrab is designed for the slightly faster twist than 99% of all the existing 264s. @Micky Duck, they have tried to make the LRAB just a little less tough for the longer shots

I think you are right about the 264 and the AB they need to be driven fast.
I do like the ABLR they shoot really well in my Creedmoor and so far have been awesome on game
