    Old Norma

I came across an old box of Norma bullets with a price tag $105.00.Offered $50.00 and took them home. Surprised to find steel cased. Loaded with 44gr AR2208 for 2460 fps in 18" 308.The front looks soft but the rear holds up well shot into dirt. Mostly a bush hunting rifle, does anyone have experience with these in 308 Win on deer/pigs?

Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

Comes to mind for some reason.i remember question n answer about Norma of the time using ?guilding?? Metal as projectiles casing. Still way softer than barrel so no issues was guts of reply. They work well I believe, was long time ago lol

Yep. Had 180 grain norma 308 bullets. A magnet picks them up. Soft tip and work well.

I remember them from the late 1970's, can't remember what they were called though. You would not get away with a tip like that these days.
    GPM.
Plastic Point evidently. Still made but with a guilding metal plated? jacket.

Used a few and a mate of mine used them a lot in his BAR 3006, his words were when you hit them they stayed hit, didn’t go very far if at all.
Few more herbs with the 3006 probably about 2700 fps but still should work well at the lower 308 speed.

are they steel core or just steel cup? I only ask as you might run foul of the ban on armour piercing if they're steel core

    Old Norma

Norma plastic points. I use them 180’s in my 06 for sambar. Had a big following over here back in the day. Still available in some Norma factory offerings. 06 and x55 are two.

Dad used to use them in his 308 sako. Shot so well but thumped the shit out of you. My brother in his infinite wisdom used them as sighting in rounds on another 308 and burnt up the supply
