Yeah not sure why they say that. Not to start an argument about Lee presses but they've probably made more ammo than anything else and put more meat on folks tables than anything else. Not to mention the world's top rifle competitor loading with a 2010 Lee 4 hole Turret Press lol. Anyway, what John Duxbury said, those old machines they're using are likely very finely made 19thC British engineering. And well maintained....

I wondered what Winchester would think if they saw their packaging in the video.
I remember reading an article by Graeme Henry about loading 270 rounds in camp on the hill. And charging them the same way. Putting them in an cream container and pouring powder over them until they were full. Then compressing the powder by seating the projectile.
I think I can remember what powder but I'm not saying in case some clown tries it and blows themselves up.

I have loaded 308 Norma mag ammo by filling case to bottom of shoulder with 5010 powder and pushing 30/06 Armour piercing projectile in backwards.

I saw that - I was thinking shite, that's a winner for the reloads out with the red vivid for the professional touch!

    Could be for identification.
I use a marker pen on the primer to ID different loads.

No, it's trying to mimick Eastern Block military ammo that often uses a red laquer primer and case mouth sealant.

Coming back into vogue with Hornady doing it on their Outfitter line.

What made me laugh was they bothered to put a lot number on the box...

Compressing powder is not dangerous. For some loads I load .223 with 2208 right to the top of the case and then compress it. I have done it with .30/06 and 9.3x62 as well. But I still measure it so its all the same amount.

Actually what he is doing is not as inaccurate as it looks - the Lee dipper system with the Lee hit-it-with-a-hammer dies is how I started, and thats all done by loading by volume as well. Worked quite well.

I didn't state or imply what Graeme did was dangerous or inaccurate. Graeme stated that a full case of that powder was the correct amount.
My comment about someone blowing themselves up was in case I quoted the wrong powder.

Up until 30 years ago and probably now still, presses and tooling just like that were being used throughout NZ for manufacturing components. No reason those guy wouldn't be turning out perfectly decent enough ammo. Bloody slowly!

Yeah I remember a guy telling me about his reloading for 308. Just dip case in and fill it up. I asked what powder he was using. the reply was, the one with the red lid.
    Unsophisticated... AF!
