How bad is it and where is the pitting?
Probably biff it, pitting shows there's been corrosion and that often changes the crystal structure and composition of the brass making it brittle not to mention the reduction in thickness at the pits.
A photo would be interesting.
It's just not worth it, bin it.
Ive just binned a bunch of 2nd hand 300 Rum brass I acquired, as there was some corrosion pitting on the outside of the main case body, with nearly 100 gr of powder going bang inside it, im not happy to take the risk thanks.
Crush and throw away
A quick tumble or polish, if its gone with nothing to catch your fingernail in Id use them....the scratches from chambering and extracting look deeper tbh.
But if after a clean up there is a noticeable pit that will catch your fingernail I wouldnt use them.
Thanks everyone for your input so far. We are only talking a dozen after a good sorting so probably just bin them to be safe.
If there is pitting on the outside you gotta wonder what corrosion there might be on the inside.
Yup, its not that pricey yet.
Don't just throw them all away- I got nearly $30 recently for what I thought wasn't a great amount. Just see your local scrap metal dealer.
