Thread: PLEASE, learn with my mistake! (or just remember it)

So, i put my stuff to load few more 223 rounds on the bench/desk, I got a container of ADI2208 that i reload my 65 and 69gr projectiles, but then i decide to load my 60gr projectiles and here start my mistake.
I then put all my 60gr gear back on and got my ADI BM2 container up the bench as well, i did reload 50 rounds and when cleaning my powder dispenser i got the "first" container in front me and drop the powder in… BOOM! mistake done!
I put all the more or less 60gm of powder in the wrong container, all my (200gm) of 2208 was mix up, no more use for both of them.

Lesson learned, never put more than what you need to load in your bench, make sure you have ONLY what you need for the occasion, does not matter what you about to do double check and put all the things that are not related or necessary for the process AWAY.

You are not unique mate - I have done exactly that and I bet a few others have as well. Good of you to post your warning to others. I knew immediately I had done it faaark.Now I only ever have one powder type on the bench at a time. If I am loading several different types during the session I pedantically leave the other powders in the next room until individually needed. Too easy to make a mistake and charge with wrong powder as well. You only need to get interrupted (mate rings wanting to natter, meal break etc etc) and the ingredients are there for a big woops.

no problem , you have just made your first "wildcard" powder mix .... exciting times ,.

Bloody snap! I have marked the top closed position on my Chargemaster with liquid paper and still occasionally do that. Man, powder is like blood, a bit spreads out over a big area. One day my reloading room is going to explode, with me in it, due to all the spilt powder around.

I put my hand up too, after loading super sonic and sub sonic 338 Fed loads i cleaned up my mess and tipped the leftover adi2205 into the almost new adi2219 bottle. Being tight i cut the bottle just below from the powder level which removed most of it and then spooned the top off. I thought the small percentage i could of missed would be fine after a good mixing. (wrong ) I did a few test loads with the new blended powder and ran them over the chrony. Some would read standard speeds but others would smoke out 300fps faster !
Lesson learnt i biffed $80 of powder away.

Save all that stuff for Nov 5 makes great roman candles

One reason I stayed with only having ADI2208 for a long time, you cant make a mistake with just one powder. Sadly the 224 needs a denser powder so the other thing I do is have a thrower only for BM2 and I'll probably get another for 2208 at some point I use scoops for now, lee throwers are not exactly expensive.

I don't reload so have never done this. In fact I haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

I want to see how high you can launch a anvil with said powder.

To every body else who did reply to this thread, thank you, in different ways you guys made me feel better or less "embarrassed", I was sure someone has done it before me but remind about the fact that it can happen with anyone who reload and that is a VERY SERIOUS situation.
