    Pointless ammo ‘disposal’ thread

OK, bored as hell with bloody lockdown.

So....a long time ago I ‘fired’ some shotgun shells that I’d tipped the shot out of, hardly seemed to make a bang at all.

Moving along to today... was in the workshop and found some old shotgun shells I’d cut off just above the brass to recover the propellant (don’t ask!) and shot.
Said shotgun bases still had live primers and in a brainwave thought. ‘ hmm, I wonder what would happen if I fired my BB gun into the primer’? (so as to keep a distance away from my gorgeous face and eyes), I mean how loud can it be?

Placed one on a wad of old rags and fired a little old copper coloured BB into the primer.

Well crikey dick, what an ear splitting bang, sheesh like a big Ramset charge going off, expected AOS to turn out!

    Don’t do this children!

    Anybody else have similar brainwaves??

Made bolt bombs as kids with match heads, don't recall anyone ever getting hurt.

heap of primed cases...needed to remove primers....pre suppressor days so I put muzzle into my polarfleece coat to muffle noise and popped them off....yip lovely little burn marks on coat...those primers have A LOT of flame. Ive seen a primer squashed in vice on purpose...then vice tapped with hammer to set it off...they are loud alright.

I made a Dakota Firehole and disposed of 7.62x39 tracer and some.22 shotshells that had been hanging around forever.

Worked well as long as I didn't stand over the hole

Used to drop a hammer onto naked shotgun primers when I was 10, only when mum.and dad weren't home of course. Put em on the concrete then stand on the step and drop it. Wouldn't do that now and I'd boot my kids up the arse if I caught them

As a youngster threw a 6.5x55 primed but empty case into the stove...they're loud all right.

This Stupid Boy had just the opposite result when in my early days of re-enacting I decided to make my own blank 303.

TradeMe supplied the "hardware" and the local sporting / shooting store was approached and when I said I was reloading 303 blank, supplied Ar2208.

Yup, I know now but not then so the result was a mild pop from the primer followed by AR2208 being ejected out onto the ground.

Whilst attending the South Eastern War Games we were in a NOG compound on November 25th.
A dirty old belt of m60 was delinked.pulled all the projectiles, tipped most of the powder out, pierced the tracer, stood the cases upright, sat the Tracer upside down in the cases, poured all the powder round cases with a trail.
Lit and stood back, powder burnt, Tracer lit off, primers popped,Tracer took off fizzing and tumbling, height depending on how much powder was left in the cases.
Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Yep done that one - never knew where the bits would go but it kept you on your toes....

I pulled some 22 tracer apart once to see what made it tick. Collected up all that silvery stuff into an ashtray and then put a lighter to it.
Nothing happened for about 10 seconds then. ........ WHOOSH!
