@WillB that is impressive velocity that you are obtaining with the IMR 8208 XBR in your shorter barrel! Looking at your first post the change in powder has increased the velocity your were seeing with the 2206 H by more than 150 fps. You have to be happy with that?

Interesting that the Norma Oryx wouldn't shoot well in your rifle, I load that projectile in four 223 and five 22-250 rifles and they shoot great in all of them. I guess that is rifles for you!

Your comment about the cratered AR 500 made me laugh. Many years ago at a friendly joint Black Powder and NZDA shoot they had a 16mm steel plate that they said was from an armoured personal carrier. They tried a 30-06 on it to see if it was going to damage it and when there was no damage they said we could all have a shot at it. After we had all tried they realized it had one neat hole right through it. It turned out that my 220 Swift was the culprit as after firing another shot there were two neat holes.

Although I have never shot Barnes projectiles I have heard similar stories as you mentioned.
