Just teasing - when your blood pressure is back to normal . . . .

    Cartridge : 6.5-06 A-Square
    Bullet : .264, 140, Sierra SPBT 1730
    Useable Case Capaci: 62.717 grain H2O = 4.072 cm³
    Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 3.340 inch = 84.84 mm
    Barrel Length : 25.0 inch = 635.0 mm
    Powder : Hodgdon H4831

Predicted data by increasing and decreasing the given charge,
incremented in steps of 2.0% of nominal charge.
CAUTION: Figures exceed maximum and minimum recommended loads !

The last load at 57.60gn at 65040 psi is "possibly" OK, it might be prudent to consider 57.0 as max

Oh and so it is says Quickload (which is only one of several references you should be using, I always correlate Q/L data with reloading manuals)

Yes Thanks for that too as I run N560 in the x55 , I wanted to go away from it if possible, not because it doesn't work, it does, but because it's getting hard to get down here and it is a bit more expensive and it seems to burn rather hot.
Trouble is I've never been able to get the same accuracy in my x55 Finn with the 2209, great with the lighter 120gr BT's or 12 Hornadys just doesn't seem to like the heavier bullets in y rifle

    I'm loaded for testing today 48-to 49.4 of H4831 in the 06 and 25 -26 with the 69gr Serria TMK's in 2206h and 2208 in the 1-8 tikka

Bit concerned about the length in the tikka, Book says 2.26 Oal but I can easily close the bolt on 2.4" [ have a Waters Rifleman magazine] have split the difference at 2.33 hope it's not jammed in , did the felt pen thing but could only see the one line where I'm guessing it was chambering up the ramp, not really sure what I'm looking for anyway.suppose it will be a series of lines indicating it jammed in the rifling.

@jakewire i have had great success in the 264 by going to RL 33. Gain of 200 fps over AR2217 which i was running previously with 140 gr pills.

If you ever want slightly more grunt get her ackley improved and neck down 280AI brass.

You will get 264 Win Mag performance without the powder required!

    @jakewire

I spent the weekend reading about RL-26 in the -06 case in various .264 and .277 cartridges.

There's a lot of data available from the US for the 6.5-06 A Square.

A Quickload model with the 140gr SST shows and easy 3100fps, staying below pMax. You can get that up to 3200fps if you're prepared to go to a 100% case fill. This assumes SAAMI c.o.a.l. but I have adjusted the weighting factor to reflect the overbore case, as per Pierre van der Walt studies.

If I end up going this way (-06 case necked down) then RL-26 would be the first powder I'd test.

Taking a look at @300_BLK's suggestion, RL-33, you have to get into slightly compressed loads to reach 2800fps, but it remains a low pressure combustion right up to properly compressed. You reach 3100fps somewhere about 110% case capacity. It's an interesting idea though, lower pressure for the same velocity, assuming the accuracy is there. I have zero experience of compressed loads.

One thing I found out today
H4831 is no good for speed in my rifle, I seated all at OAL 3.33
I started at 48 , which according to Hornady should give me around 2750 in a 24" barrelmine is 26
    then went
48.4, 448.8.49.1 and finally 49.4 which is hornady maximum

They were right about one thing it was very accurate , I fired one Bullet of each for a start for speed as I was using the V3 , then I was going to settle into 4 shot groups with each powder weight.
The whole range didn't have a bullet hole separating them top to bottom each one broke the hole below it.

    However....
    First speed - 48gn Flat 2497Fps, What????
Second One - 48.4 , 2449, yip, at this point I though the V3 was broken so set the old Chrony up 12 feet away as well
48.8 254sFPS, well at least I was getting somewhere, chrony showed 100 Faster but it always has read high I've thought.Howevr it didn't read 300 Higher which was what I was wanting

Stopped there and put the V3 on the Finn and Fired three rounds of 48 Gr of 2209 behind 120Gr Nosler BT, Rifle has always liked this load, still does for 2943, 2948, 2946 FPS.
So Nought wrong with the V3

    Went back to the 06
    49.1 is 0.3 under max for 2497
Finally on [book] max , it went backwars in a hurry which is usually a sgn , for 2468FPS
Recoil was noticably heaver but primers ok and No marks on the brass

Needless to say I didn't shoot for groups, packed it up and dug out the 223.I'll pull the other 20.

Weird though Ive never struck loads this far out from the Book.Unless there is something else wrong, same scales loaded the 223 last night and it performed as expected.
I'll have a read of what you guys are suggesting above and see if I can do better next time with another powder
I can't afford to run anything to temperature sensitive as in winter we are below zero and summer in the Valley can sometimes easily exceed 35.
    Phew.
