Thread: Powder discontinued. What do others use., 243win 105 vld, 108 eld-m

My go to powder has been discontinued.
Mostly I shoot the Berger 105gr VLD and the Hornady 108 gr ELD-M over 4x gr of Winchester Supreme 780 for a velocity of just over 3000 fps. Can't remember my COAL
To be fair this has not shot as well as I would like.

Anyway Win Supreme 780 has been discontinued so I need to find an alternative that will give me similar velocity.
Hodgdon list a number of powders that will push the 108 gr to 3050 fps. H1000, IMR7828, Hybrid 100V, IMR4831,

What are others using??

Rifle shoots 87 gr vld with H414/W760 well.

I run 7828ssc in my dad's short barreled 243, gets good speed with 100gr bullets.

made a study of the reloading data I can find for bullets in the 100-108gr range
from the Hodgdon family IMR7977 or Hybrid 100V look good and will get me 3000 fps with some change.
ADI looks ultra conservative
Accurate looks ok
Reloader 23 and 26 looks very good but the data only went to 105gr amax bullets.

looks like a toss up between IMR7977 and Reloader 26.
