Staball is new to me but has appeared a few times on searching I prefer local hands on numbers
2208 all day every day
It was originally made for 600 yard competition shooting in the USA
2208
2208 goes well in my 308 which is similar to the 7-08

Tried a few powders when experimenting with 150 eldx and 162 eldm's. Tried rl17, 2209, h100v and finally 2208. 2208 gave acceptable velocity and outstanding consistency.
IMR 4895 gives good results with 140gn but never tried it with 150's
I've only ever used 2208 with 140gr to 162gr.

Brilliant thanks all any start loads for 2208? I’m loaded longer than saami with plenty of room in the case but will load a seating depth test on a light load to kick it off
Greetings All,
I am using AR2206H with the 145 grain projectiles in a 7mm-08 for F-class and it shoots great. AR2206, AR2207, AR2208 and AR2209 were developed in Australia by Mulwex in the early 1980's and picked up by Hodgdons the following decade. They were the first of the extreme powders although not called that at the time. AR2206 was slowed a bit to become AR2206H / H4895and AR2209 seems to have been sped up a bit to be closer to the earlier H4350 and IMR4350. AR2208 has only been made in Australia and as Varget was a new powder in the Hodgdon line up. There are not many cartridges that you can't load with one of the 4.
Regards Grandpamac.
I run I ran 2208 in mine with the 162gr
Greetings.
I chronographed 41 grains of AR2206H with the 145 grain Speer at 2,800 fps in Lapua cases and a 26 inch barrel. Also 41.5 grains of AR2208 with the 150 grain Remington at 2,570 fps in R-P cases in a 19 inch barrel. In the 19 inch 42.5 grains of AR2208 gave 2,710 fps with the 140 grain Remington. Please note that these are all flat base projectiles which maximise case capacity compared with spitzer boat tails.
Regards Grandpamac.
42/42.5 grns 2208 can’t remember which with 162 eld-m was good in my 708s

I get 0.5 to 1 inch groups with 5 shots using AR2208, AR2209, Re15 and N160.
Some loads are more like 1.5 inches. One bullet just would not shoot better than 2.5 inches in my rifle.
I've tried Barnes TSX 120gr & 140gr, Hornady 139 gr, Nosler Accubond 140gr, Remington Corlokt 140 & 150 gr, Hornady 154gr & Accubond 160 gr.
The N160 loads are for the heavier bullets.
Rifle is Kimber Montana with 2.5-8X Leupold
I do not try for top velocity. Most 139 / 140 gr loads are around 2750 fps and the 154 / 160 gr are around 2600 to 2650 fps. I've shot deer out to 300 meters and
Tikka 18 inch barrel
