Is there any wonder powder that will work for 6.5x55,.308 .270 .303 and .300wsm or is it better to use different powders for each? I was looking the price and was hoping like hell there is a magic wonder powder :D

N560 wud prob be closest
2206H will do 6.5, 306 and 303, and 2209 will do 270 and WSM
If you have to buy more than one type, makes no difference in the long run to cost, you just have twice as much powder to use up, rather that running out in 1/2 the time
Good point spanners, and 2kg would load how many say .300wsm?
oh and what powder for .300Winmag? would it be the same as the wsm?
Sweet thanks Spanners. depending on projectiles and 500g powder is gonna be close to same price as a box of ammo we just bought. see how much guncty cost for shipping I would get it from reloaders but they dont ship powder.
AR2209 and 168 AMax for the 300 Toby.
We were looking at nosler 165gr ballistic tip, they are $46 for a box of idk at reloaders, but since you guys know better I will listen to you haha. Thanks heaps.
Noslers are 50 to a box, AMax and SST 100
I'll have to check in regards to my freight company, but I can prob ship powder and primers no probs to you as can ship ammo
Oh yeah that would be great, would it turn out being cheaper that way rather then buying powder from guncity as well primers and get projectiles from reloaders? Also another question for .300winmag and .300wsm are they rifle large magnum primers or what? and are 6.5, .308, .270 just large rifle? Im just assuming that cause the .300's end with magnum. I would probably learn about it in the reloading manual when ever it gets here but just to excited wanna know now.
Edit: primers from realoaders I see they are cheaper
A rule of thumb I use, if it uses more than 65gr of powder, it gets a Mag primer
Not gospel, but works for me.. there are guys who will run mags in smaller cases, and std in large cases
Whatever works for you
Sweet. Thank you for the help btw much appreciated.
Another question, just got told reloading .300wsm is a waste of time because they always split their necks and blow cases, is this true?
I'd stop listening to the person that told you that......
I will probably take that advice. He has been pretty negative about everything to do with this gun.
Haha youre always going 2 have some1 disagree. I have a 300 wsm and havnt ever ruined a case. also using rl17 in it, also in a .308 and a 6.5, so thatight be worth a crack goes good for me
Who makes that powder? That sounds the go for what I want
Alliant. Reloader brand
You wont get huge velocities out ou your smaller catridges with it.. But it certainly still works. And im guessing you wont need them to be going that quick anyway
I only shoot the .308 and 6.5 in close. What projectiles would you say for the 6.5. Im going to use sierra pro hunter 150's for the .308 not sure.about 6.5
I would probly still agree with getting powder to suit each application. I still use others i just find the rl17 is my top choice for my 300 wsm(where speed and accuracy matters)
Are the ttsx I think its them from barnes and its all copper. Are they any good? If not what are they good for? I think I remeber seeing something about them for places where you cant use lead in rifles or somethinf.
Read a book Toby, learn some shit from it, then ask questions - after you know what your talking about
I cant read what hasnt turned up yet. Whats so bad about about asking and slowly learning names of powders and projectiles and stuff. Geez must be that time of the month for some of you.
I haven't used the interlocks either but they are a cup and core bullet of the type that have been taking game for years. for toby's intended use at the moment and guessing probably 200y or less there abouts, they would be cheap and with the good SD should do the job very well
Well under 200. My longest shot to date on a deer is 120m. Never had a intrest in shooting like I do now.
Toby, which book did you order ?
For basics on the process, see RCBS - Precisioneered Shooting Products - Step-By-Step Reloading
You can download the ADI manual to look at some specifics
ADI Powders Handloaders' Guide
I'll hunt around for some more online reading, more important that you understand the basic process, and the variables involved. Best thing you can do is to go spend some time with an experienced reloader. Maybe check with the local gunship or NZDA ?
Lyman 49th edition. The guy at hamills said its a good one to read
Lyman: Intro to reloading

Redding: Basic Handloading Guide

Thanks ebf. Shouldnt be long before I get the kit. Lee kit from outdoors supplies for $220 better then guncity at $300
Toby for the 6.5 i would consider Amax and the TTSX. i could post you 10 of each of the LRX and AMAX to try if you want. also have a look through this website ADI Powders Handloaders' Guide
p.s pick a powder that is easy to get hold of. most gun shops have adi
Whats a compressed load, is that just powder thats been packed in tight?
