2206h or win 748. Both work well and are easy to get proper data for. Don't overthink it.see what you can actually get ahold of and go from there.

Another one here I'm using a stout load 45grn of 2206h in a 10.5 inch barrel with a 155.5 and getting around the 2500fps over a chrony

    Hi there,
Give me all the specs of case , projectile , barrel lenght from muzzel to bolt face and type of powder and I can put it into Quickload for you and get OBT and (approx) best load for your gun.
    Cheers

Basically the powder that gets the highest velocity in a long barrel will get the highest velocity in a short barrel. This idea that shorter barrels benefit from a faster burning powder is not really a thing.

This means use 2208 or 2206H. Either will work well. I use 2208 in my .308 for what its worth.

I guess looking at the Hodgdon reloading data for 308 pistol (15" barrel) shows that. And probably a better place to be looking for 16" barrel data than the rifle data (based on 24" barrel?).. still 2206h (same as H4895 or 2208 (same as Varget) seem to offer the best of that lot, and Win 748 is also supposed to be good - its what Winchester use for their 308 loads after all!

Hey mate, thanks. I'm borrowing a fancy measuring thingy off mate to get the OAL sorted. I'll get some new brass.. or once fired decent stuff and work all the measurements out and get that to you. At the moment I've got flogged brass and lucky dip of projectiles to work with lol.

    Cheers,

Bro, that's impressive! I thought my 14" was a little short for good velocity with those sort of weights.

What sort of distance are you shooting out to with that set up? Curious af haha. Cheers

Furthest I've shot on animals is 250 I'd say 300 would be stretching it only a 1-6x24 so not a long range. Through it together for bush and culling, it's a heavy barrel
