Hey Guys
Have a 270 with a barrel of only 21". Any idea what powder I should go with? I thinking a bit short to use 2213sc, so maybe 2209?
I use 2206H for my .308, any idea how that would go the 270?
Will be using 130gr bullets.

AR2209
08. Not the fastest but will stop a bit of the out of barrel boom/ burn
From deep in the archives.....can anyone add to this? @Dama dama
21inches ain't that short at all, all traditional 270 powders will work just fine. 2213sc, 2209, IMR4831, RL17 etc. My choice would be 2213sc, had good results with any projectiles, especially with 140gr weight projectiles. Next would be 2209
AR2213 ALL DAY LONG..... 2206 will work but is crappy by comparison and case is nowhere near as full.
Try Superformance, dont think you will be disappointed.
2213, 2209, or the secret sauce... reloder 23

Shorter barrels don’t necessarily require faster powders. Keep using the same powder you would use for whatever pill you are using. Great example is Rel 26 in my short 260. Slow burning powder but producing the best speeds over everything I tried (19” barrel).
Ahh well I'll load up with what I've got on hand and if no good then I'll start shopping for something different. Powder that is......
Ran a 17" semi 270 with 110 and 130 Barnes for many years, used 2209.
