    Powder trickler advice

Heya. Just toying with the idea of getting an electronic powder dispenser, in the hope of more accurate & consistent dispensing of powder compared to my current Lee hand unit that came with the Anniversary kit.

Thoughts ? Brands ? Advice ? Better to pile the money onto the table and set fire to it ?

While not the best of best I use one of these, as do a few others here.

You haven't given us an idea of your rough budget. It'll flavour the advice big time

I got the Lyman Gen6 off sinclair. Landed for approx $NZD 400 from memory.

Nothing fancy , but it does the trick well.

Ta. I've been reading up on the Gen6 this morning, seems to tick quite a few boxes. I suspect it'll do for my basic needs.

q: what did you do re: power plug ?

Never mind, a moment of weakness just saw me purchasing a Lyman Gen6 from Julian at Workshop Innovation. $470 incl delivery and $40 cheaper than Reloaders

thats a decent price when you consider you wont have to wait too long.

The Gen6 is a good machine. Sometimes it tips 0.1gn more less than requested - you can either just trickle more in or use it anyway ...

Those using the Lyman 1200 Digital System III how do you respond to the less than positive reviews such as http://www.6mmbr.com/powderdispensers01.html ?

Anyone using the RCBS ChargeMaster Combo?

I have the gen 3 and gen 5, the gen 3 is more "sensitive" to temperature and "Fluor lights", the temperature is annoying but the lights don't bother me because I don't have it in my room. Sometimes depending the room temperature I need to "re-calibrate" it often than normal, otherwise it works perfectly.
@Norway also use the Lyman ones, he may be able to give a better advise if needed.

I use the Gen 6 as well.
Really rate it. Far less sensitive than my old Pact system.
My 3 centrefires have less than 15 fps ES so it must be reasonably accurate.
Never had an issue with it and it has thrown thousands of charges.

Wouldn't be without my RCBS chargemaster.
Throws repeatable and accurate charges and does it very quickly after I reprogrammed it to speed up the dispensing time.

I currently use a K-fried spoon and a Hornady Pacific balance scale.

Have tried the McD's spoon too but preferred Red over White

Cheap, easy to use and surprisingly accurate.

    Cheers
    Pete
