    Lightbulb Precision Reloading -Erik Cortina

Erik is a well known and accomplished shooter in the States. He put this up the other day, quite interesting and worth a look.

He’s also done a couple on seating for accuracy and why you shouldn’t worry about the lands.

Yeah I have watched his video's too, some interesting theory's and idea's. They obviously work for him using his gear and shooting discipline but some of it won't really cross over to the average guy and especially the hunting crowd.
For instance in his don't chase the land's video he states to find you max length cartridge then work up a load to a low ES and SD. Once this is found fine tune the group size by seating your bullet in 3-thou at a time.
I know with my rifle and using Sierra gameking's or prohunter's i would almost be out of bullets before I found much of a difference in group size.

That and his definition of "shoots well" vs "won't group" is quarter vs half MOA groups.

Not denying his ability. but to stop chasing the lands he first does find them. so its a bit front backwards.

Theres some great tips in his vids. The biggest one for me was ES is all about combustion and group size is seating depth.

If ES is small but group size is big, play with seating depth.

If ES is large play with powder and charge weight.

He also said altering seating depth can fine tune any load to a degree.

    Fixed it for you.....
He promoted tuners. He does of course market his own.

Watching him last night shooting a 1000 yd group. First 4 shots in at 0.3 then he "blew it" with his last shot which opened the group to 1.3!

The thing with Erik is he seems quite open and willing to share his info. Not many of the top dog shooters are like that.

@outdoorlad I would like to thank you for posting the link to Erik. I have always struggled with the accepted way seating depth relates to accuracy. Getting it right seemed to based on luck . Now I am completely clear and know what I should do and how to select an accurate node

I'm going to give his method a try with my new 270, nothing to loose and if I can't make it work I'll just go back to my tried and tested method.
It does make a lot of sense though and it's very easy to understand.
