    Press mounting options

    Hey team,

I've been building up my ammo/reloading room, just the catches to fit. It's come up pretty nice, 18mm UT ply, with a few coats of poly. Cupboard doors sit flush with cabinetry, captive pin hinges, and the shelves fit against the Cupboard doors so you can't kick the doors in, or break in easily.

Now that it's looking all pretty, I would rather not fix anything to the top. I have a powder thrower, trimmer and a press I had fixed to my last bench.

Has anyone seen or come up with a decent solution for a removable/modular reloading bench system?

Press fixed to a board and then held to benchtop with clamps works, often see that.

I just clamp the press to the bench with two clamps.

Two 12mm bolts & wing nuts, more often than not the press stays fixed to the bench. Tried the G cramps…a couple of knee cappings later a new strategy was required

I dont do enough loading to warrant a permanent mount so this is my current set up . It is a high bench though

    Greetings,
My press is mounted on an old school desk. I don't do heavy case forming and I can move my desk around to suit including to the range. I like to keep depriming, trimming and case prep away from the press and scales. An old workmate holds my cleaning cradle, vice and trimmer as required. This can also be taken to the range. Depriming is done with a Lee punch and base arrangement and not in the press. This keeps all of the grubby bits of handloading away from the press and scales.
As far as fixing your press to the top goes it is a handloading space so you might just have to harden up on that one before someone else claims the space. If you remove the press a thin sheet of ply and a bit of edge trim would remove all trace. Get something portable for the grubby stuff.
    Regards Grandpamac.

If I had the skill and ability I would think about something like the Ultimate Reloader dude uses, Ali rails embedded into the bench and all your tools / toys have T bolts to hold them in the rail.

Ive found a tidy bench means someone will come along and go oh look some space and go and dump some crap there that never gets moved again....

Nice work on the bench & cupboards.
My presses are mounted on aluminium plates, 160 x 140 x 6mm. I have captive nuts fixed to the underside of the bench. It takes less than a minute to change or remove a press. All I'm left with is 4 small holes.

    Press mounting options

Going off the state of his reloading bench/room, @AndyAnimal must be one of the most creative minds around.

Aww man, I'm torn between a smaller dedicated "press/trimming" bench and something similar to the inline fabrication/alloy plate options.

I'm planning on shooting/loading 100+ rounds a month this year, so leaning towards a dedicated bench or very easily removable option, as the current bench will be used for cleaning etc aswel

These are really good. They bury into the underside of the bench and all you'll have is drilled holes visible from the top.

The only truly successful system is the press bolted firmly to a solid bench. I have mine at the right-hand end, reasonably out of the way and it makes a useful coat and hat rack as well.
