    Primers

Been exclusively using wlr primers in my 303 with excellent results. Went shopping for more today but every shop I went to today had none and told me there's a shipment coming closer to the end of the year then that's it, no more because Winchester are no longer making reloading components, all components will be for factory ammo. There's still a lot of wlrm primers out there though. So I'm now looking for the closest match to wlr's by other manufactures. CCI, Federal, Remington etc. IF anyone knows that'll be a great help. Don't really want to be wasting a crap load of money testing out every type of primer. I won't touch federal 210 standard primers, my rifle hates them. wlr gives me a 1.5 inch group at 100m, fed 210's give me a 5 inch group. Those russian murom's are quite good but haven't seen any for a few years. Also, does anyone know which modern day primer closely match the primers used in the old hxp ammo? Thanks

I use wlrm and have done so for years..... use them in pretty much all centrefire.... they will be hotter than your std primers but if you CAN get them....might be idea to do so.... whats worst will happen, they no good...you can still keep looking for std winchester primers.

I've never really noticed primers making such a huge difference as you mention 303.
I have two bolt faces scarred by winchester primers which put me off them for everything but bp and cast bullet loads.
Curgently using the last of a batch of murom alongside cci std rife primers. It may make a difference with magnum cases and ball powder or if you are target shooter but I don't notice it.
At present getting any primers is a bit like winning the lottery

As above cant say I have ever noticed any huge differences in accuracy with primers but then I have only used cci fed and win.
Would never use win again myself.

Forgot to mention in my 1st post the 303 loves fiocchi lr primers aswell but as far as I know GC is the only crowd that sells them but have none in stock, I messaged them today via their website to find out when they're getting more. Plus I load cast for the 303 and my 243 using trailboss which shoots best with wlr's but not that great with fiocchi and fed210's. Is it true trailboss works best with magnum primers?

Some fed 215 might be your best bet then?

Delta Mike has Fiocchi small and Large rifle primers in stock currently.
    Get them while you can.

trail boss works with anything...IF you use magnum primers and try to go subsonic, you will be down into crazy silly low levels of powder...std is much better for that purpose.

Was in North Shore hunting and fishing on Sunday, they have quite a few boxes of WLR and WSR primers. Bit of a drive for you but might be easier than developing a different load with a different primer...

They work well as substitute percussion caps and are a fraction of the price
