Never used the system, but it's getting closer to "scary" than I'd like to go.
Yip I've sent same photo to Lyman along with this one.
Waiting on reply

stuff that for a game of soldiers....DO NOT LOAD any more with it....
Why not just take the high point off the plunger with a file or some sandpaper?
May save a few hassles with time on a replacement etc.

Not far off an unexpected bang Id say, which will moisten your undies
File down the plunger and wear some ear muffs - oh, and a pair of those "piss-yaself" nappies
Oh fuck no, file that flat
yes he could file it flat.....BUT he has paid for a product to use...no way in hell should he need to attack it with a file to make it safe...the very least the manufacturer should do is send new one ASAP with courier bag to send old one back....a reloaders supply voucher would be a nice touch too..... at end of day its all about good public relations.
It would literally take minutes to fix with a needle file and some sandpaper.
It will be as good as new.
It is a machine mark from I would suggest a parting tool.
It could take weeks to get any results from suppliers or manufacturers over a machine mark.
I would notify the dealer of the fault as a whole heap could have the same issue and fix it myself. Probably still get a replacement anyway without demanding customer satisfaction over a simplistic fix.
Hope the OP doesn't get mucked around.

I realise that...piss poor production quality control all the same.....imagine buying a box of factory ammo that looked like that.
shit a priming tool with built in firing pin whatever will they think of next :D
Fuck that!
Well good news.
I sent a email off to Lyman US and they replaced free of charge. New one arrived today. First thing I did was check the priming plunger and its perfect, so I'm happy.
Glad you got it sorted! I was tossing up between Lyman and RCBS for hand priming, chose RCBS in the end. Either way, good to see customer support that actually solve the issue. Reloading brands have been amazing with CS in my experience so far!
Have a read of this article by John Barsness, a well respected American gun writer.

@Sideshow I had to return the old primer to Lyman. I could have easily fixed it myself but thought I should have brought it to their attention, who knows how many others where like this
Wow, I wore out my Lee Priming Tool that came with my reloading kit and replaced it with a Lyman a couple of years ago.
I load 3000-4500 rounds a year and have never seen this.
Pleased you got it sorted.
