Ah Priming tool. Had me baffled for a bit.
Have been using a Lee one for ages. Can be a bit cranky usually due to operator error. Waggling the case as you start to prime works wonders.
GPM.
I'm with GPM on this one. Mines the old round tray version.ive tried the new diamond one and it's even better with its little mechanism to make sure only one primer at a time.
I have a Lyman, it is OKish. Doesn't always seat proper and chews up a primer on occasion.
I curse it on occasion, but if you hold your tongue right it seems to behave.

Been using one of these for last few years,, well made, great to use....
I have a Lee square one minus the lid works just fine so long as you pay attention
I generally use a little Stihl with a 14" bar, it's probably overkill around the section in town but it's so quick and easy
I generally use loppers, not much good for putting primers in though, you could hit them in but it might defeat the purpose.
I don't know, get two sticks and a bit of leverage and some finessing, Might be the next best thing to someone coming up with like a, hand priming device. I'll bet they have them in Europe, fuckin trendsetters.
My bad bloody auto correct I obviously type pruning more than priming cheer all
I used the RCBS one at the club reloading room the other day, was ok but prefer my new-ish Lee Auto hand one - much easier to swap between the small and large rifle primers I thought too.

Yea both my small rifle and larder rifle primer poxy plastic adapters are broken so the tray flys out given half a chance I have to prime with the tray jammed against my chest one hand on the brass to align it and one to squeeze not ideal my original lee was great RIP no idea what happened to it
This is what I use. I love this thing. Really speeds up priming,m performs consistently and retains good feel for when the primers bottom out in the pocket.
However, I've never attempted to trim a hedge with one of these. I'll study the instructions again just in case I missed that first time round but personally, I think it might be shit for yard work.

Has anyone tried the Smart Reloader priming tool?
https://smartreloader.com/en/product...s-shellholder/
Or the Lee Ram Prime?
https://leeprecision.com/ram-prime
Both are very inexpensive.
I do like the Lee ones. The only thing I don't like with the lee is the need for another special shell holder
I have a Lyman one that takes a standard press shell holder and doesn't do the job any better than the Lee but it's just handy not having to buy (and keep track of) yet another shell holder
Bought the Lyman easy prime need to return won’t seat primers deep enough a shame because it looked good and solid
Can you confirm it worked with the Lyman holders? Get she’ll holders isn’t out of the question for me as the unit seems sturdy I have the rcbs universal it’s junk the primer tray flys out everytime it’s not held in like the other hand primers it simply slips in the front then the piece it slips into cracks and it won’t hold the tray
The green piece slips into the black piece so it doesn’t hold well trays not in the handle like a lot of the others
Gave up on the msgazine type priming tools. This is what I use and it includes other useful features. Highly recommend.

@Woody Sooo,,, you like the ram prime then?
Yes. With the longe leverage you can properly feel the seating. I normally just put 50 primers on a tablecloth and 50 cases alongside and prime. Its pretty quick and nil dramas. Im refering to using the ram prime as part of that Lee hand press.
@Woody.
Thx.
Does it come with 2 rams or do you need to swap the cups over for small or large primers?
I don't load 100,000s of rounds so inclined to think it will do me.
I just can't get used to priming on the press by pulling up on the handle. Counter intuitive IMO.
Swap the cups. The tool will also serve as a press, holds reloading dies, shellholder etc. All the info is on Lee site.
100%. I traditionally have used an RCBS hand tool/tray but after many years and -1000s- of rounds, it had become worn and failed to seat tight primers to fully flush. At the suggestion of various F Open team mates, I got one of these 21st Century ones and couldn't be happier. It's easily adjustable in 1 thou increments to suit exact needs, has extremely high build quality with good feel but efficient seating power.
I have used the a few Lee hand primers for years and only the other week upgraded to the PCPS next gen precision primer seating system by Derraco Engineering NZ, It's Awesome.
Micrometer depth increments of 0.01mm and takes the Lee shell holders.
I have my eye on some of the other stuff they sell.
I have been mucking around with a PCPS next gen precision primer seating system by Derraco Engineering as well.
I really rate it. I have been using Lee and RCBS hand primers for years. This PCPS urinates all over them.
Very accurate and affordable piece of kit.
