Question re Forster Co-Ax press

I'm looking at getting one of these but I've a question before I go ahead.
To bump the shoulder on my 7mm08AI I had to shave 20 thou off the shellholder to get the die to work, does this mean I'll need to shave the die as the Co-Ax press doesn't use normal shellholders?

Yup. I have had to grind one sizing die for the same reason.

Or you can buy an adapter plate that accepts normal shell holders. Works a treat.

I haven't got a pic but I bought mine from workshop innovation.
I need it for my Hornet as the fitted/normal shell holder won't hold the case.

No worries. The other shell holder displaces the claws as you reach the bottom of the stroke allowing the die to get pretty low on the case.

Depending on how much you had to have ground off the shell holder it might be enough to bump your shoulder and save you 50 bucks. Still good to have one anyway I reckon.

I needed 10 thou so ground the die before I knew about the adaptor. Only found out about it by accident browsing for other press parts.

@R93 do you just use the adapter plate for everything or just for the hornet?
Did a quick search and it seems the majority just use the adapter once installed.

Just for the Hornet. It takes under a minute to swap plates. I also like my case to be able to float a bit.
You will see what I mean when you get your press and start using it.

And I don't have all the required shell holders so have to use the original anyway.

But yeah I can see why people just use the adaptor once fitted.
Either way will work sweet.

Not 100% on this but you probably could get one in from the states or Oz cheaper than you could buy retail in NZ anyway.

Just might take a bit longer.
