Hey team.
I shoot 165 sst 308 with 42gr of 2206h.
I have a bottle of imr4895 and would like to put the same load in that and see how it performs. However, the manual recommends starting 0.7gr above that.
Can I just start at 42 anyhow?

AR2206h is the same as hodgdon 4895 but my memory tells me the IMR stuff is slightly different.
hang on a jiffy will consult equivilents chart.
the ADI chart has all three on same line...so SHOULD be within 5% of each other..... proceed with caution but realistically why would you WANT to dro poff the extra bit of a grain??? far better to be in known load data level for peace of mind if nothing else..your two loads shouldnt be far apart/different...PERSONALLY I would go with the minimum load.
chuck in the hodgdon powder and see what it says..then do same with 2206h it MIGHT be different data from when you made up your load perhaps??Quote:

I think moving forward I'll do some proper load development with imr once I have access to a bit of farm land and can set my chronograph up.

thats what I msaying...look at what hodgdon has as data on that same site..... it MIGHT BE the same powder...... the other two definately are NOW...
The h4895 has the same data as 2206h.
Imr4895 has a higher range (starts and finishes higher). But I'd like to see the real world results.

Best to treat them as different powders and use the IMR data for IMR 4895. The IMR data is more up to date as the H4895 data is till in CUP rather than PSI. The change to PSI occurred some years ago and revealed some problems with some of the CUP data. My old Speer manual lists 43.5 grains of IMR4895 as max. Makes you wonder about the Hodgdons/ ADI data a bit.
