is there anyine that could run a loading thru quickload for me please?
A mates reloading 308 with 48grain 2209 under a berger hunting vld 175.
seems waytoo much powder, has a fair bit of recoil for a 308
cheers

Depending on OAL this would appear to be seriously compressed - QL suggests 111% case fill with OAL of 71.1mm
Not over pressure though!
yeah I put some in a case last night just to see and its right up in the neck thats for sure. i thought a compressed load like that would be up there? just interesting though getting superb accuracy out of by the sounds, not sure of confirmed speed though

Be real keen to know what speed they are doing. And what the primer looks like. I assume he doesn't have to jack hammer the bolt open after each shot.
Hes reporting no pressure issues good accuracy and reasonable speed- 2550fps or there bouts. Might have to give it a go
I was literally doing that exact recipe for a mate last night. First things first. If that's a Tikka then you're way too heavy. Im told that's a 1/11 twist barrel so you will do much better with lighter projectiles. My mate told me his results before even asking me 1.5 to 2 moa with 180's vs same hole using 150's.
Bugger, I think I mist the bit about a herd of elephants found in nz, mind I`m getting up to them, 44grs, 3031 and 405gr lead bullet in 45-70, .
well im getting under half moa for 48gr 2209 berger 175vld hunting.
Im now trying 200 eld x with 47gr 2209 and results so far are looking promising

Just a question re 2209; is it better for the heavier pill? I use less 2208 powder for great accuracy and the 165 and 168. It shoots the Nosler 180's well too.
I have 2209 but using 08 in the 260 now also.
I'd be wary, that's a lot of powder. A mate threw some primers three weeks back using that same 2209 mixture in his Tikka and 165's. He didn't know until I told him to show me the cases. All three were blown.
