    RCBS chargemaster lite issues

Got my greasy mitts on a RCBS chargemaster lite, so far cant say i'm too impressed.

Running through the calibration sequence (after 30min warm up period) the 100g check weights value drop rapidly from the initial reading and once removed the scales don't return to zero, seem to hover around 1.5-2grams?

The thrown charge weights seem to be all over the show too, checking against my Dillion beam and a Hornaday digital the thrown charges vary up to +/- 0.8 of a grain! Even weighing the same charge repeatedly gives wildly different weights each time the pan is put on the scale.
Also the scale needs to be re zeroed ever time i return the powder pan to the scale, never seems to return to zero.

    Have tried:
    different power points
making sure cell phone is well clear
    bubble is level
    draught cover in place.

Am i missing something obvious or does it look like the load cell is stuffed?

Are you using it in a room with fluorescent lights? If so, turn them off, find a table lamp or 2 and try again.

I also found that when I used my lyman gen 6 in the workshop with a 12v battery drill close by that it wouldn't settle down to zero properly.

No major sources of interference i can think of.

I'm going to take it into work and test in a lab that is setup for precision instruments (concrete bench and conditioned power supply) I it works fine there I guess i need to start looking at my setup at home.

Power supply and after that load cell most likely kaput.

I had a partly buggered ps but the symptoms were different to yours. I could still calibrate but when mine was dispensing it would stop at the end of the high speed stage and not complete the slow speed stage to finish.

Check also that no kernels of powder have gone down the wee hole.

Maybe you just have a dud, mine has run flawlessly and calibrates easily and spot on every time, don't need to warm up. I check it heaps with the calibration weights as lack of trust after my Lyman Gen6.
I find them a far superior unit and must have a much better brain inside.

Did you buy locally? Can you take it back and get them to replace it?

Sweet, they'll probably just give you a new one. My first one that arrived from Nanchez arrived squashed in transit. They just sent out another one. They are really good machines, just bad luck I'd say.

A few grains of powder under the black plastic cup holder where it joins the main body can give false readings.
